History & Timeline

In 1999, Sr. Lorraine Ryan, a Medical Mission Sister, conducted a survey of the greatest needs of women in Boynton Beach. Once the need was identified, Sr. Lorraine was joined by Sr. Joan Carusillo, a Holy Cross Sister. Sr. Lorraine and Sr. Joan founded The Women’s Circle.

Founded in 2000 as a 501C3 nonprofit to give these women the skills they lacked. Women’s Circle began in a 650 square foot rented space. Programs were developed in English, adult literacy, computer skills, job preparation and life skills.

In 2010, Women's Circle had outgrown it's rented space and was able to relocate to a 1250 sqft duplex.

In 2018, the Sisters retired but their legacy lives on.

In 2020, Women's Circle welcomed a facade rennovation and addition to their building to allow for growth.

The Women’s Circle is supported by grants and private donations.
